Sales copilot

A sales copilot is an AI assistant embedded in a seller's daily tools that automates research, drafting, and administrative tasks.

A sales copilot is an artificial intelligence assistant integrated directly into a sales representative's existing software, such as their CRM, email client, and calendar. It acts as an on-demand partner, helping reps execute tasks like summarizing calls, drafting follow-up emails, retrieving account data, and preparing for meetings. The core principle is to augment the human seller by automating repetitive work, not to replace them.

How a Sales Copilot Works

Sales copilots function by connecting to a company's internal systems and approved external data sources. They leverage a company's first-party data from the CRM to understand customer history and context. They can also pull in real-time sales intelligence from the web to enrich a rep's understanding of a target account.

The user interface is typically conversational. A sales rep can give natural language commands, such as "Draft a summary of my last meeting with ACME Corp" or "Find the top three contacts in engineering at this account." The copilot processes the request, gathers the necessary information, and presents the output within the rep's current workflow.

Copilot vs. Autonomous Agent

The key distinction of a copilot is that the human remains in control. This model is a primary enabler of AI-augmented prospecting, where the rep directs the AI, reviews its output, and makes the final decision to send an email or log a note.

This approach differs from more autonomous agentic sales models, where an AI SDR might independently manage an entire outreach sequence. A copilot assists the user, while an autonomous agent executes a delegated goal.

For sales organizations, copilots offer a way to increase productivity without disrupting established workflows.
